The Voice of the People

The People Have Spoken

So I have made a Vox Pop or the "Voice of the People" in Adobe Premiere.  I went around to strangers and asked them the question "If there was one place to spend the rest of your life where would it be? "

I took the hesitation of their answers and used them as an opening because I felt that would draw in the viewers attention.  It was interesting that some responses were similar in general location while others were out of the ordinary, but relatable.

I may make another one sometime since I noticed the camera that I used made low quality video.  Until then here is my first try!

Premiere with Natural Sound

This is my next practice with using Adobe Premiere to make videos.  In this video I recorded at a store where they take old items and refurbish them using chalk paint.  I combined the natural sounds from the shop with the song "My Father's Father" by The Civil Wars.  Enjoy!

First Adobe Premiere Video

This is the first video that I have made with Adobe Premiere.  I used photos that I took around my campus and added effects using the program.  The music that the photos are set to is Electric Feel by MGMT.  Enjoy!

Multimedia Critque

I found this multimedia to be well produced.  The words/text are in sync with the music in the back ground.  The music in the beginning is very captivating and draws in the audience as it shows the cityscape.  There are a wide range of images and video clips.  The effects that are used were old film grain, slowing down and speeding up the clip.  The typography was good.  My favorite part of the video was in the beginning where the clip of the flowers was edited to open up to the sound of a person breathing.  The multimedia also changes the mood with the music that they use when a different clip comes up.

Event Coverage

CSL pep rally ignites students

The infographic provided contains facts about the Winthrop Men's Basketball team.

Winthrop students and faculty piled into Richardson ballroom yesterday for the pep rally hosted by the Council of Student Leaders.  The pep rally was intended to get the student body excited about the upcoming Winthrop Coastal rivalry game on Jan. 30.

The festive atmosphere of the event was filled with music, cheers from the Winthrop Eaglettes and cheer squad and rousing speeches.  The vibrant energy was contagious.  Soon the entire room was in high spirits.  “I have never been to a Winthrop game,” said sophomore Claire Wyse, “but I may have to go to this one tomorrow.”

Men’s basketball head coach, Pat Kelsey, and players like Reggie King began to move the crowd with buzzing excitement.

King spoke of the hard work that the team has done this season and that he looks forward to continuing the pattern during the Coastal game.  “My pep talk turned into a pep rally,” King stated once he realized that he had captured the attention of the room.

Activities like “Minute to Win It” where contestants were to complete the lyrics of a song once the track stopped and wing-eating contests sparked interaction between players and crowd members.

Midway through the event the mood became somber and serious.  “Winthrop has rich basketball traditions and history, and we want to make sure that everyone is aware of it,” Michelle Slaughter said.

Slaughter explained the tradition of students holding their hands palm side up during free throws as a tribute to De’Andre Adams, a former Winthrop basketball player, who was involved in a fatal car crash in 2007.

Students not only left the pep rally with good spirits and knowledge, but a new relationship as well.  On a high ending not from head coach Pat Kelsey he informed the crowd his door is open and “you have a personal relationship with the head coach; you’re important to me and the team.”
